TRAVEL SUGGESTIONS
The closest airport is Landvetter outside Gothenburg.
From there it's a 2 hours drive by car to Forshem, or you take the
airport shuttle bus into Gothenburg. From there, take the train onwards.
(See the information to the right -> ).
However, the flights here are often a bit expensive. A good alternative is to fly to Kastrup in Copenhagen (if you can stand being surrounded by Danes for an hour). You take the train directly from the airport. It's a 5 hours train journey, with one change of trains. (See the information to the right -> )
Where ever you fly to, let us know. If we are lucky, we might be able to coordinate your travels with someone elses and you can get a ride in a car.
Arriving by car:
Please let us know when you are travelling, which route you are taking and if you have any spaces left in your car. We might ask you to pick up some other happy travellers along the way if you would be willing to help.
Tip to routes from Kristiansand:
If you are travelling by car, google will give you the alternatives of going by
ferry either Sandefjord-Strömstad (recommended if you can time it, there
are only a couple of departures per day), or Horten-Moss.
An
alternative (beautiful and fun) route is to go via ferry to Hirtshals,
drive to Fredrikshavn and take the ferry to Gothenburg. You can stay an
extra day in Denmark before travelling onward if you feel like it!
Arriving by train or other public transport:
From Gothenburg: There are 1-3 direct trains to Forshem per day.
Buy your ticket and check the availability at https://www.sj.se/en .
If the departures don't fit, you can check the second closest stop which is Hällekis. There are additional departures to this station. From Hällekis there is a 10 minutes travel by car to Forshem. We will organise this car journey if you let us know when you are coming.
From Oslo: There are several possibilities.
Check https://www.sj.se/en for the best departure. Either you seek for a journey to Forshem or Hällekis (as described above). If this is difficult, an alternative is to go to Lidköping (NOT Linköping - take care, the names are similar). From here it's a 25 minutes car ride to Forshem. We will organise the journey from here to the church if you let us know when you are coming.
From Kristiansand: Same as from Oslo, but you have to go to Oslo first...
From Copenhagen: The best arrival is to Falköping. From here it's a 30 minutes car ride to the church. We will organise the journey from here to the church if you let us know when you are coming.

ACCOMODATION
Accomodation
We have reserved the apartments at Falkängens Hantverksby. https://falkangenkinnekulle.se/en/boende/
The whole place is reserved for us until May, when they will open up for other bookings for the remaining apartments. If you want to stay here, make a booking and specify it's for JØRUNDS AND LOTTAS WEDDING (not a wedding of some other losers!).
The accomodation is located around 3,5 km from the church, and ca 8 km from the party (the closest one you can find unless you find something on airbnb).

OTHER WEDDING STUFF
Special foods?
Please let Karin know at lerslyckorna(at)hotmail.se
Do you want to give us something?
Please do not bring anything if you are coming from the other side of the world - your prescence is gift enough.
For those who wish to gift us something, we will post a list with ideas for presents soon here on the website.
What is the dresscode?
Kavaj/Cocktail. Traditional/Folk costume is very welcome.
Are children welcome?
Please
ask us. We would have loved to invite all of them, but sadly we have
limited space. Also note that after 22.00 we think it's a smart idea to
take the kids home.
Can I bring my partner?
Again,
if you are unsure, ask us. If we haven't met them or know them well, we
might ask them to skip the dinner since we can't fit enough tables and seats for all those we would have wanted to invite. We would however love for them to join us for cake and dancing
throughout the night!

TO DO (APART FROM THE WEDDING)
The area in general is fantastic in the summer, with lots of different tourist attractions within easy reach. We have listed some of them below, but there are many more.
Of course, if you are in the mood to just relax and take it easy, then you can always go down to the lake and swim, read a book, or just sunbath. Some of our favourite spots to swim are:
Björkullasand https://g.co/kgs/ZX7oQ89
Sandvikens båtklubb https://g.co/kgs/G9avMuo
(The best spots are about a 5 minutes walk from the parking space)
Svalnäs badplats https://g.co/kgs/6hyvtbm
A trick from the locals is to check the direction of the wind when you want to go swimming. If the wind is blowing in towards your beach, the water will be nice and warm even if the wheather has been colder the last days, because all the warm water on the surface is blowing towards you. On the other hand, if the wind is carrying the warm surface water away from you, you might get freezing water even though it is a warm summer's day... So you might go to the other side of the bay. The difference can be huge.
Kinne-Kulle
Famous
in all of Sweden as a beautiful hill with a unique micro-climate and
biosphere. Lots of well-signed and gorgeous walking trails, cute resturants and cafés,
atiliers and handcraft-shops. At Munkängarna is one of the most beautiful woods in Sweden, with easy trails that fit both children and grown-ups. Hällekis Säteri is a beautiful castle with a shop, restaurant and botanical garden well worth a visit. At Utsiktens kaffestuga you can buy ice-cream and cakes while looking out over the entire lake. Another fantastic view over the entire landscape is at Kinnekulle Utsiktstorn close to Kinnekullegården.
Läckö Castle
A magnificient Baroque castle. We can recommend the entertaining and interesting guided tour.
They also have spooky tours that are great for children! There is a also the museum of Naturum out at the castle.
Additionally, they
have a chamber opera in the courtyard every summer. It can be highly
recommended and is a unique experience. In 2025 they will be playing Fantasio by Jaques Offenbach.
A trip to the castle can be combined with a trips to Spiken. This is a small fishing village with food, handicraft and ice cream. Inside the city of Lidköping you can do lots of things - the Rörstrands museum of cheramics is great, the city is known for it's cafés and more.
Forshems Gästgiveri
Just
next to the church is one of Swedens oldest restaurant with local food.
On Thursday-Sunday during the summer they have a pub in the
garden in addition to the a la carte inside the Gästgiveri, with local craft beer and a great grill buffet. Magical
surroundings and you'll be hanging with the locals!
Karlsborgs castle
Great guided tours for children at this military castle! Can be combined with a trip to Forsviks bruk.
Skara Sommarland
is a waterpark, great for children and only 30 minutes away from Forshem. If your children are slightly older, Liseberg in Göteborg is about 1,5 hours drive away - and it is worth it!
Göta kanal
Sweden's
most famous canal, now only in use for leisure and as a tourist
attraction. Lots of places to visit along the canal, great for children and adults alike, and we can
recommend biking along it.
Biking
The
landscape is perfect for bicycling. Everything is flat, you find plenty
of ateliers, handicraft, cafés, old castles and mansions, and places to
swim everywhere you go.
Kayaking and canoing
You
can hire kayaks and canoes in many places, including at the
accomodation. The lake and small rivers are fantastic to explore this
way! However, take care and be smart. The lake is big and dangerous, so
don't venture far from land. Tourists who have paddled straight out for
hours, far from land, have been lost to the lake before.
Hiking
There are lots and lots of different trails and different types of terrain and nature to go hiking in. Ask us if you are looking for something in particular!
Concerts
The area has lots of concerts during the summer, with a wide range of types of music. We will post some recommendations when the different programs for the summer are ready.
